Beautiful western ballad sung masterfully by Jimmy Rodgers! Bravo! 👏👏👏

One of my favorite renderings!
Such hard lyrics to remember.
By far the best version!!!!

Rouvaun the greatest voices of all. I got to see him in concert once. I have all 7 albums he recorded. Wish his family put them on cd
Come on people he may have passed but his music is not dead. This is an excellent song. Please listen to the great Jazz artists of the past. This music cannot die. Please, I am begging you.
Loved listening to Jimmie Rodgers from late fifties and early sixties. Loved with my grandmother and she often played his LPs. This being one of my favourites
2:15 cool pic. same period - mid '60s. Looks a Maestro Fuzz pedal on the music stand.
* The Velvet Fog could make even silliest and corniest songs sound cool! 😀
Oh my gosh…..just discovering this now. What a beautiful version of this song!! Thanks for the upload albeit I’m many years late!

Have to think developing Tower of Power was a smart move. Not sure this outfit was destined for bigger things...
goddamn this goes so hard
I cried when I was a little kid because this song was one of my dad's favorites and the melody just made me sad. My father passed away about a year and a half ago and hearing this now brings back the tears, but in a happy way for the great music my father got me into.
This is one of the albums my mother played relentlessly. It is the soundtrack of my childhood. I inherited the LP, but can't find it digitally anywhere. Thank you for posting this.

Terry and June brought me here.
I had a hard time finding this song because of its crazy lyrics. Shazam was totally confused! LOL

Norma Zimmer, Lawrence Welk's "Champaign Lady" for 22 years, worked as a successful studio singer for some of the top names in the recording industry. She is the soprano heard on this song and provided the vocal backup for Nat "King" Cole's Nature Boy. Also Sinatra, Dean Martin and others.
Married that year. 1.6 67
The music behind Mel sounds like the big band arrangement of Cherokee.
Great sounds!!
Listened to this 50/60s. I'm surely heading for the last roundup.
This is my Dad Tommy playing the theme on the original Bonanza series.

Ace in the Hole
I 1st heard it on Looney Tunes as a kid in the 60's, the cartoon was named "Horton hatches an Egg". Thought it was pretty funny as a kid, then years later my mom starts singing it at the kitchen table. "I'm like how do you know that song?" She's says "it's an old nonsense song from WW2", I thought to myself, I thought it was new in the 60's, she said it was nearly 20 yrs old when I heard it on the cartoon. Anyways, my Mom & I used to sing it for fun together, happy memories from a long time ago.
i loved this album i had many of WN albums
I.had this album
